The resonance poster is a personal project. The purpose of this poster was to visually represent a feeling that resonates throughout my life.
Spoiler Alert: The type reads: "I don't know where I'm going from here, but I promise it won't be boring." This is my favorite quote from David Bowie. I always want to be looking for the next great thing and a lot of the time, I don't know what or where it is- but I know it will be exciting. All failures and triumphs are exciting as it means I'm moving forward.
In order to make this, I started with 2D sketches. I quickly realized that working on a flat plane for a poster with depth wasn't going to work. The initial sketches got me started with ideas, but I had to employ other means to achieve the desired effect. I cut shapes out of pages in my sketchbook and began to weave type through the physical layers rather than imagine where the layers might be. This technique helped me arrange the typography without tearing my hair out.
The type was made on a simple square grid that I overlayed on a scan of my sketches and cut paper. The final result is a blend of physical organic layers and pixelated digital letter forms. Portraying depth and movement was important to me in putting this poster together. I wanted you to feel like you could fall right into it.
